Dome Marina Sailing Centre Egypt

In 2008, David Megalli founded the Dome Marina Sailing Centre at Marina Wadi El Dome, Ain Sokhna — one of Egypt’s first dedicated sailing schools. As founder and commodore, he created training programs for young people and adults.

David was an authorized dealer for Topper Boats in Egypt.

Dome Marina Sailing Centre became a favourite destination for residents and international visitors. His sailing programs used the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) method and focused on practical sailing skills.

A Partnership is Formed

During this time, David offered Hamada a job to learn how to sail. Hamada enjoyed sailing so much that he earned his sailing instructor license. This was the start of their working relationship.

Hamada was key to the success of Magawish Sailing and Windsurfing Centre.

Students’ first sailing adventures in Optimist boats designed for learning and confidence. DMSC promoted youth sailing and worked with schools for beach and sailing days.

Although the centre has since closed, its legacy established a framework that continues to influence sailing excitement and education across the region.

Aquativities - Egypt’s 1st ...and... 2nd Ever Water Sports Expo

Coordination on creating Egypt's first ever water sports show to be held on the Red Sea coast at Ain Soukhna.

Organized by David Megalli and Hamada Shaaban (Dome Marina Sailing Centre) with Rowas Abdel-Shahid (Vision Trading), Luke Dieulot (Bic Co), Tamer Eissa (Chaparral Boats) and Tiger Marine Zodiacs.

The Water Sports Expo brought together more than 15 Egyptian-owned water sports businesses.

The event, held over 3 days, showcased powerboats, marine equipment, jet skis, ATVs, sailboats, catamarans, inflatable boats (zodiacs), boat engines, and beach toys. The water sports expos helped to connect water sports businesses and water sports enthusiasts to promote more water activities.

The first expo was held in 2010 and was so successful, the second event was held  in 2012.

He managed sailing programs, trained instructors, and improved safety and customer experience.

The Centre attracted both residents and international visitors. His leadership helped integrate high safety standards with a focus on customer experience and environmental awareness.

Magawish Sailing Centre – Hurghada

David and Hamada expanded DMSC activity footprint in Megawish (Hurghada)

In 2012, David and Hamada expanded the Dome Marina Sailing Centre’s activities to Hurghada, at Jasmine Village in partnership with the Tommy Friedl Pro Center.

This move marked the growth of their “Sail in Egypt” initiative beyond Ain Sokhna. Together they trained residents and tourists to experience sailing in the Red Sea. They organized sailing events and promoted water sports in the Hurghada community.
